Alison Doody

Alison Doody (born 11 November 1966) is a famous Irish actress and model. After making her feature film debut by playing a minor role in the Bond film A View to a Kill (1985) she went on to appear as a Nazi-sympathising archaeologist Elsa Schneider, in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). Other roles include Siobhan Donavan in A Prayer for the Dying (1987) Charlotte in Taffin (1988) as well as Rebecca Flannery in Major League II (1994). Doody was a model when she was approached. It turned out to be a profitable career. Doody tried to stay clear of glamour and nude roles, this was the principle she followed in her acting. If she came to the director's attention in an upcoming James Bond film, Doody was offered a small role on the film A View to a Kill (1985). Doody was named one of the twelve most promising young actors in the year 1986 in John Willis Screen World. 38. At just 18 at the time she acted in the role Doody was and is one of the smallest Bond girl to date. A Prayer for the Dying which starred Mickey Rourke in 1987, was a different early film in which Doody portrayed IRA Siobhan. Doody had a non-speaking role in the 1987 television film adaptation The Secret Garden appearing as Archibald Craven's wife Lilias in the movie of his dreams. Doody's first leading role came in the 1988 episode of Jim Henson fantasy series The Storyteller in the role of Sapsorrow alongside John Hurt Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. The actress acted alongside Pierce Brosnan in the film Taffin (1988) before she took probably her most high-profile part ever in the role of Austrian Nazi-sympathiser as well as archaeologist the Dr. Elsa Schneider in 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as a co-star with Harrison Ford. Doody has worked with three James Bond actors. In the year 1991, Doody played alongside Jonathan Pryce in British mini-series Selling Hitler inspired by the publishing fraud known as the Hitler Diaries. After moving to Hollywood Doody made her an international star. She played Flannery in Major League II, opposite Charlie Sheen. Doody's return to the screen was in 2003. Michael Caine played Doody in an uncredited role. Doody acted alongside Patrick Swayze in a 2004 television movie adaptation of King Solomon's Mines and also starred in a short called Benjamin's Struggle (2005) a pamphlet that discussed the Holocaust as well as in the British TV series Waking the Dead (in a two-part episode called. in 2010 Doody played a role of Danny Dyer's movie The Rapture (2010). Doody appeared on RTE's the medical thriller The Clinic. The project was later canceled. The year 2011 saw her debut on the first of two seasons on the E4 comedy drama Beaver Falls playing Pam Jefferson. She also appeared on the show in 2014 as We Still Kill the Old Way. In November she was awarded the Almeria tierra de Cine Award and was awarded a Star on the Walk of Fame in Almeria.
